About: Billy Murray Heidelberg Quintette
Turtle Talk:
The first fifteen seconds of this performance were rough and received aggressive,
perhaps excessive, attention..
Tech Tidbits:
Victor 17141-A was transferred
using a 3.5 mil truncated elliptical stylus in a Stanton 500 stereo cartridge
at 76 rpm on a United Audio Dual 1219 turntable. Turtle believes that this recording
should be heard at about 74 rpm rather than 76 or 78 rpm. The proper playback
speed of early "78's" is not always 78 rpm. Since the slowest speed on the Dual
1219 turntable is 76 rpm, Turtle used digital signal processing technology to
slow the 76 rpm transfer to about 74 rpm.
