Turtle Talk:

Grey Gull 1166-A was performed, according to the record label, by the Yerkes Novelty Five with an Arthur Hall vocal. The Yerkes Novelty Five was probably performed by one of the MANY groups controlled by Harry A. Yerkes. This recording of a very popular song has a Dixieland flavor. Perhaps it was recorded by the [Yerkes controlled] Hickman Five. Turtle is not certain. Your feedback welcomed!

Tech Tidbits:

Grey Gull 1166-A was transferred using a 3.5 mil truncated elliptical stylus in a Stanton 500 stereo cartridge at 78 rpm on a United Audio Dual 1219 turntable. You will hear some blasting/blaring sound that Turtle was unable to remove without adverse affects to the overall sound.
