Turtle Talk:
Thanks to Ron Dethlefson, Turtle believes the pianist on the Edison recording is Dave Kaplan. Dave was a studio arranger and director for Edison. In about 1926 Dave became the regular pianist for Jones and Hare.
Turtle has requested that Dave, on the next take of Barney Google, curb his exuberant touch during the glissandos near the end of the recording. Turtle reached deep into the bag of digital signal processing techniques but found none to diminish the distortion/blasting during the glissandos.
Tech Tidbits:
Edison Diamond Disc 51155-R was transferred using a 3.7 mil spherical stylus in a Stanton 500 cartridge at 80 rpm.
Victor 19066-A was transferred using a 2.7 mil eliptical sylus in a Stanton 500 cartridge at 78 rpm and digitally slowed to 76 rpm..
