Billy MurrayTurtle Talk:
Turtle is happy with this transfer, but wished he could further diminish the record "swish" in the closing 60 seconds of the song.
Tech Tidbits:
Victor 17159-A was transferred using a 3.5 mil truncated elliptical stylus in a Stanton 500 stereo cartridge at 76 rpm on a United Audio Dual 1219 turntable. Turtle believes this recording should be heard at about 74 rpm. The proper recording (and playback speed) of early "78's" is not always 78 rpm. Since the slowest speed on the Dual 1219 turntable is 76 rpm, Turtle used digital signal processing technology to slow the 76 rpm transfer to about 74 rpm. Of course Turtle may have a "tin ear." If you feel "Down In The U-17" should have been presented at a higher or lower tempo and pitch, please share your thoughts with
Turtle.
