FRED VAN EPS (born December 30, 1878; died November 22, 1960) said that he learned to play the banjo by buying and studying Vess L. Ossman's cylinder records. Van Eps was a remarkable banjoist who followed in Ossman's footsteps as "King of the Banjo."
